Workplace Safety: Protect your feet!

Workers in environments involving risks are required to take all protective measures to ensure their physical integrity. Naturally, one part of the body that should be considered is the feet.

There are various types of safety footwear for workplaces, which protect against many hazards:

Antistatic boots: These are non-slip boots with integrated steel-reinforced protective toecaps and reinforced ankles. They are designed for use in potentially flammable or explosive atmospheres.

Non-slip boots: These are similar to antistatic boots but have a non-slip grooved sole. They are not used in potentially flammable or explosive atmospheres.

Other types of safety footwear:
These are used depending on the work performed (e.g., marine footwear, uniform footwear with non-slip properties, wellington boots, etc.).

Safety footwear is classified by height as follows:

  • Low-cut shoe
  • Mid-cut boot
  • Boot
  • High boot
  • Wader

When choosing safety footwear, it is important to consider the work for which they will be used, as well as the relevant safety standards, which include: provision of comfort, stability, and toe impact resistance. Safety footwear must have a closed heel, be antistatic, waterproof, and have a shock-absorbing heel.
